MANILA -- The People's Republic of China will be turning over 3,000 units of M-4 assault rifles, 3 million rounds of assorted ammunition and 30 sniper scopes to the Philippines on Thursday.
The event will take place 9 a.m. at the GHQ Canopy, AFP headquarters, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. All of items will be donated without any cost to the Philippines.
Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua will formally turn over the weapons to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.
This the second batch of weaponry donated by the Chinese government to the Philippines.
The first donation, which was turned over June 28, consisted of 3,000 rifles along with 5 million rounds of ammunition and 90 long-range sniper rifles with 800,000 rounds of ammunition. (PNA)

Today the Chinese government through military assistance from Ministry of National Defense of the People’s Republic of China has turned over the second batch of military equipment to Armed Forces of the Philippines-Department of National Defense (AFP-DND).
The military assistance included 3,000 units of rifles; 3,000,000 rounds of assorted ammunition; and dozens of sniper scopes.
The rifles are Norinco CQ-A5b 5.56mm.
Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua, National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, AFP Chief-of-Staff General Eduardo Año were present during the hand over ceremony held in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
It can be remembered that in June, China first transferred 3,000 rifles with 5 million ammunition and 90 units sniper rifles with 800,000 ammunition to the Philippine government. Majority of the rifles from the first transfer were turned over to Philippine National Police. (Update)
