Today's security environment is complex and still evolving. This requires our Navy to build capabilities to maintain its edge and to deal with potential threats.
We have commissioned three of our eight Littoral Mission Vessels and can expect the other five to be operational soon. Our unmanned systems for mine countermeasure, force protection and maritime surveillance are also being operationalised.
Last Friday, we began construction of our third and fourth Type 218SG submarines at a steel-cutting ceremony.
The Type 218SG submarines will have longer endurance, better sensors and pack a greater punch as well as other state-of-the-art capabilities - all designed to achieve higher combat effectiveness in our unique operating environment.
