South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) has confirmed that Indonesia – its partner in a project to develop a next-generation fighter aircraft – is reassessing its continued involvement in the programme.

DAPA said in a statement on 20 April that the reassessment had been launched after the Indonesian government fell behind on its payments in the programme to jointly develop the next-generation Korean Fighter Xperiment/Indonesia Fighter Xperiment (KFX/IFX) aircraft.

DAPA added that it is now liaising with the government of Indonesia to limit the impact of any disruption caused by Indonesia’s lack of payments.

“The Indonesian Ministry of Defence (MoD) failed to pay some of the contributions on the KF-X joint development project in 2017,” said DAPA.
