During President Duterte’s visit to Israel this week, Filipino and Israeli officials will discuss the procurement of military equipment. Both IAI and Israel Shipyards offer fast patrol boats to the Philippine Coast Guard.

The Philippine government has reportedly allocated Php3.8 billion (about $71 million) for the upgrade of the country’s Coast Guard and is looking to purchase fast patrol boats.

According to Maxdefense, Israel Shipyards has offered their Shaldag V FPB to the Philippine Coast Guard, and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems offered their Typhoon and Mini Typhoon RCWS to arm current and future vessels. Another offer was made by IAI Ramta, which manufactures the Super Dvora family of patrol boats.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, accompanied by a large business delegation, is scheduled to visit Israel this week.

When asked to comment on the report, IAI said it “does not discuss its customers,” while Israel Shipyards said it is “looking into the matter.”
