Bangkok Dock Offers Three OPV to Srilanka

Thailand Shipbulider's Bangkok Dock Company (State owned company) in progressing to offer new 3 Offshore Patrol Vessels for Sri Lanka Navy as a Managing Director and Executive Director was attended to meet event between Cabinet of Deputy Minister of Defense of Sri Lanka and Minister of Defense Thailand, 9 October 2018.

Executive Director of Bangkok Winery Co., Ltd., attended the reception of the Deputy Minister of Defense of Sri Lanka, to meet with the Minister of Defense of Thailand following the construction of a offshore patrol vessel for Sri Lanka. 

The meeting was attended by the Sri Lankan Defense Minister. And the Minister of Defense, General Pravit Wongsuwan, welcomed the visit of Thailand on October 9, 2018 to discuss several issues of security cooperation between Thailand and Sri Lanka.

The Bangkok Dock Company, the managing director and executive of Bangkok Dock Company, also attended the event. According to the policy of supporting Thai internal security industry by the Thai government by Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chanacha, 

Bangkok Thai Overseas is in the process of proposing the 3 OPV Offshore Patrol Vessel projects 12,000 million baht ($ 362.61 million) to the Sri Lanka Navy with Wuxi Bangkok, Thailand. Bangkok Dock has purchased a patent surveillance ships. 90m OPV mechanical side of BAE Systems, UK (BVT Surface Fleet original) since 2008, with the agreement to build a ship for use within Thailand and exported abroad for a period of 10 years.

No more details at this time. It is understood that Bangkok Dock Thailand would like to offer a 90m OPV of BAE Systems to Sri Lanka. The shipbuilding by Thai shipyard for export for export friendly country would be cheaper than the country. It will be shipbuilding at the British shipyard. It may also include cooperation with the Sri Lankan Navy Colombo Dockyard with the capability of shipbuilding for the Sri Lankan Navy and the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, based on the Zealand Navy's Protector class.

Bangkok Dusit has also offered a patrol boat to another Philippines, even though it has yet to report its interest in ordering supplies. But it expresses the confidence of the friendly country and support to the Thai government's internal security industry.
