The delivery of Philippine Air Force (PAF)’s six brand new close-air support (CAS) A-29B Super Tucano aircraft ordered from Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer S.A. is expected in December 2019.

These aircraft, when delivered, will replace/complement the OV-10 Broncos of PAF.

In November 2017, Embraer announced that it was awarded with contract to deliver 6 Super Tucanos for PAF.

“The aircraft will be deployed for close air support, light attack, surveillance, air-to-air interception, and counterinsurgency missions. Deliveries will start in 2019,” Embraer said.

“The A-29 Super Tucano is a durable, versatile and powerful turboprop aircraft capable of carrying out a wide range of missions, even operating from unimproved runways,” it added.

Aside from this upcoming delivery, Business Mirror reported PAF’s existing FA-50PH aircraft from South Korea will be installed with air-to-air missiles from Deihl Raytheon by July 2019.
