PHL’s First Anti-Submarine Warfare Helicopter Conducts Test Flight

According to information received by MaxDefense Philippines, the Philippine Navy’s first of two ordered AW159 “Wildcat” anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopters conducted its first test flight on November at AgustaWestland’s facility in Yeovil, UK.
MaxDefense said it received information that the first AgustaWestland AW159 Wildcat naval helicopter bound for the Philippine Navy conducted it’s first test flight last 01 November 2018 at AgustaWestland’s facility in Yeovil, UK.
It added that the ASW helicopter is “wearing the UK military aircraft registration number ZZ549.”
The contract for the two ASW helicopters was signed March 2016 under Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization Program First Horizon. The contract is worth PHP5.4 billion and includes munition, mission essential equipment, and integrated logistic support.
Delivery is expected in March 2019.
