More Gempita Variants On The Roll

A visit by the Minister of Defence to DEFTECH production plant at Pekan, Pahang reveals several new variants of DEFTECH/FNSS AV-8 Gempita 8×8 Armoured Wheeled Vehicle currently under production.
Among those noticeable during the Minister’s visit on February 15 were 120mm mortar carrier vehicle in which six will be delivered to the Malaysian Army in the future. The self propelled mortar vehicle is a unique variant as DEFTECH was able to integrate the Gempita platform with Thales 2R2M self loading 120mm mortar system. Similar system has been successfully integrated into DEFTECH/FNSS ACV-300 Adnan armoured personnel carrier (APC) a few years ago.
Another Gempita variant caught on the picture was the armoured ambulance vehicle. Currently the Malaysian Army operates armoured ambulance vehicle based on the Radpanzer Condor 4×4 Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) as well as DEFTECH/FNSS ACV-300 Adnan tracked APC. The Ambulance Condor is thought to be replaced by the new Ambulance Gempita in the near future.
