PHL Now Acquiring Ammo for Upcoming Brandnew Frigates

The Department of National Defense (DND) has launched a couple of acquisition project for 30mm and 76mm ammunition for Philippine Navy’s upcoming Jose Rizal-class frigates being built by South Korean Hyundai Heavy Industries.
PHP100,000,000.00 is allotted for the Frigate Acquisition Project Lot2C Sublot-2 (30mm Ammunition), while PHP77,536,964.00 is alloted for Frigate Acquisition Project Lot 2C Sublot -1 (76mm Ammunition).
The 30mm ammunition project involves 4,000 rounds of target practice tracer (TPT), 6,000 rounds of high explosive incendiary (HEI), and 4 pieces cut-aways (2 pieces TPT, 2 pieces HEI).
The 76mm ammunition project involves 720 rounds of 76mm Cal 62 Naval Ammunition Target Practice (TP), 748 rounds 76mm Cal 62 Naval Ammunition High-Explosive, Dual-Purpose (HEPD), 4 pieces cut-aways (2 pieces TP, 2 pieces HE-PD).
Pre-bid conference for both projects is scheduled on February 7. Submission and opening of bids is set on February 21.
The ceremonial steel-cutting for the first frigate, future BRP Jose Rizal took place in April 2018, while the ceremonial steel cutting for the second frigate, future BRP Antonio Luna, was held in September 2018. Keel Laying Ceremony for the first frigate was held in October 2018.
Delivery of first frigate is expected first quarter of 2020, while the second frigate is expected to be delivered in 2021.
