The Royal Thai Air Force has made a formal ceremony for the launch of the first six RTAF-6 Aircraft on August 1, 2017 by Air Chief Marshal Johm Rungswang and the Royal Thai Air Force Senior Officials attended the ceremony at the Unit 2034 Squadron 203 Flight 2 Khok Ka Thiem, this is a separate unit location (search and rescue helicopter) at Flight 6, Don Muang.
Thai Air Force has opened the production line on February 19, 2014 at Bang Sue Department of Civil Aviation, with Air Chief Marshal Prachin Chantong.
Phase 1 project performed between 2014-2016 to produce 6 sets of prototype before production line of 3 machines, The six-year commitment program of 3,400 million Baht will be implemented in the 6 production line, total of 25 machines.
RTAF 6 is a turboprop engine propeller based on the reverse engineering from the plane-15 SF.260MT, which flew in 2007. It is hoped that the deployment of the first RTAF 6 biplane propeller aircraft to the Thai Air Force, it will be a major stride of the development of aircraft of the Royal Thai Air Force in the future.
